Aiko Leather Backpack Pattern – Convertible Design with Adorable Dog Charm

This leather backpack pattern is one of my most joyful creations. I designed it so you can have two bags in one — a convertible leather backpack pattern that changes from a backpack to a handbag in just a few moments. The front pocket carries the sweetest detail: a little dog’s face peeking out, inspired by my own leather dog backpack design of my dog Aiko, as if she’s greeting everyone who sees it.

The leather backpack bag template is perfectly sized for everyday life — 23 cm (9.06 in.) wide, 29 cm (11.42 in.) high, and 10 cm (3.94 in.) deep. Inside, you’ll find two pockets (one zippered, one open) and an extra zippered pocket on the front panel to keep everything in its place. Materials You’ll Need

To make this bag, you will need approximately 0.55 m² (851 in²) of leather.
I used medium firmness vegetable-tanned leather, 1.2–1.6 mm (3–4 oz.).
You will also need:

• Rivets – 9 pcs

• Steel D-Rings 2.5 cm (1 in.) – 5 pcs

• Snap hooks 2.5 cm (1 in.) – 3 pcs

• #5 zipper ≈ 50 cm (20 in.) – 1 pc

• #4 jeans zippers, 18 cm (7.1 in.) – 3 pcs

• Strap slider – 1 pc (size depends on strap width)

• Strap loop – 1 pc (size depends on strap width)
