Steampunk Leather Car Pattern – Jewelry Box Template

A car that tells a story

Steampunk leather car pattern instantly grabs attention. Picture a vintage leather machine standing proudly on your desk — it looks like a miniature car from another age, yet it hides a secret inside. When I crafted mine, every stitch and rivet made it feel as though I was assembling a collectible artifact rather than just a jewelry box.

Materials you’ll need

I created this leather car from Crazy Horse leather, 1.4–1.6 mm thick. You can also use vegetable-tanned leather that is 1.4–2 mm (3.5–5 oz) thick. For the headlights, lighter or undyed vegetable-tanned leather of 1.4–1.6 mm (3.5–4 oz) works best.

For assembly you will also need:

• Rivets – 38 pcs.

• Knob screw rivets – 9 pcs.

• Curved screw spikes – 5 pcs.

• Screw spikes – 9 pcs.

• Steampunk decorative elements like clock wheels – 5 pcs.

• For wheels: steel threaded rod, diameter 3.5–4 mm (approx. 0.14 in), length 11 cm (4.33 in) – 2 pcs.

• Hex nuts or cap nuts as end caps.

Most of these details can be found at hardware stores. The rods usually come in 1-meter length and can be cut to the size you need.

Finished size

The completed jewelry box measures about 25 cm (9.8 inches) in length and 9.5 cm (3.7 inches) in width. It’s large enough to hold small treasures or accessories, but still compact enough to look like a decorative piece.
